Welcoming the Stars! With the second series of Broadchurch now on our screens, we were very fortunate to have the cast of the hit TV series staying with us whilst they were filming throughout the summer of 2014. The eight episodes were shot over a four month period, with the majority of the filming being done this series in West Bay. Throughout this time the majority of the cast stayed here and became our extended family whilst here. We were also very privileged to host several informal get togethers and their final “wrap party”, great times with great people. Keep watching and you will spot the George in several scenes.
Great Food, Locally Sourced! Over the last year we have been working on our recipes for our pub pies. We have now got it down to a fine art, When you order a pie from us, it is made by hand completely from scratch. The pastry is rolled and placed into the pie ring, the filling is inserted and the lid put on. We then bake it for 30 minutes and the end result is a perfect individual pie. The pies are now our signature dish and we have extended our range to 12 different flavours. We are still experimenting with flavours and add specials to our board on a regular basis. If you are a pie fan and are looking for the ultimate pie. We believe you should look no further.
Award Winning Food! We are always looking to improve on our achievements and 2014 saw us entering for the first time in to The National Scotch Egg Challenge. We set about creating an alternative twist to a conventional scotch egg and arrived at a mash-up of Pulled Pork and Southern Comfort with a Jack Daniels glaze. To our surprise we reached the finals for a live cook off, at The Ship Inn, Wansworth in August. We arrived among 23 other finalists to cook our eggs live in front of a panel of distinguished food critics. After a nail biting experience it was announced that we were placed 5th in the UK. This means we officially have the best scotch egg in the South West! What a great surprise, but next year we intend to improve on that significantly.
