We visited the George on the 1st January, fortunately we had booked a table , the menu choice is brilliant, my son and his father had the legendary gammon which they said was amazing ,it was huge, they struggled to finish it. My husband had the rump steak which was cooked perfectly and came with homemade onion rings to die for . I couldn't eat a main meal so opted for Steak Baguette , it was massive and also lovely. The rest of our party tried the fajitas and the liver onions , portion sizes was massive but throughly enjoyed. The children meals were smashing too. We are all looking forward to going back to the George. Strongly recommend you book as it really popular and the menu does warn you that it not a fast food resturant so expect a wait for your food but it is worth the wait.
Eight of us had lunch here after a walk in the area. We were warmly welcomed and found a large table to all sit together. Lots of choice on the menu and reasonable prices. The meals were all thoroughly enjoyed especially the homemade pies. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be visiting again.
It was so nice to visit somewhere that served something other than carvery on Sunday. Actually the carvery looked fantastic, but we were walking the coastpath and wanted something lighter. A prawns, a fishcakes and a lasagne were perfect for us. All served promptly were great.
